How to Sign a PDF
Drop in the PDF somebody sent you — the rental form, the school permission slip, the invoice that needs your name at the bottom. No printer, no scanner, no account, and the document never leaves your device.
Sign with your finger if you are on a phone, or with the mouse on a laptop. Want it neater? Switch to Type, put in your name and pick a handwriting style. Then press Use this signature.
Drag it onto the line where it belongs and pull the round handle to size it. Switch on the date if the form asks for one. Press Sign and download, and send the file back.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a signature like this actually count?
For everyday paperwork, usually yes. Rental forms, permission slips, invoices, delivery notes and most business agreements are signed this way every day, and electronic signatures are recognised in the EU under eIDAS and in the US under the ESIGN Act.
When is it not enough?
Property transfers, wills and some court papers need a witness, a notary or a qualified digital certificate. If a document asks for a certified or digital signature, this is not that. Ask whoever sent it before you sign.
Draw or type — which is better?
Drawing looks like you and takes about ten seconds on a phone, where your finger beats any mouse. Typing gives a clean result that stays legible at any size, which is handy on a laptop with no touchscreen or on a form you sign every week.
Can I sign a page other than the first?
Yes. Use the arrows above the page to move through the document, then drop the signature where it belongs. Signature lines usually live on the last page.
The signature is too big or too small
Drag the round handle at its corner. Aim for a signature that sits on the line without touching the printed text above it, roughly the width of the line you are signing on.
Is my signature kept anywhere?
No. Your document and your signature stay in your browser and are gone when you close the tab. That is worth caring about, because a signature is reusable by anyone holding a copy of it.
